One of our favorite places to go in Chicago is actually in the 'burbs: Mitsuwa Marketplace. It's basically a Japanese super-mart, with a bookstore, grocery-store, bakery, cafeteria, and other smaller random booths. Our routine usually involves eating (in my case yesterday, a Teriyaki burger, seaweed salad, and sushi), and then wandering around the grocery where we pick up soba noodles, pickles, and snacks.
The snack aisle is phenomenal. I've never seen more pre-packaged bean-cake. I'm tellin' ya, Asia kicks our ass in the snack department. Check it out:
